At Gunthorpe Primary School, we believe that learning another language helps children to develop their awareness of cultural differences in other countries and prepares them to be a global citizen. We encourage our children to explore other cultures through language and traditions, which will help them to celebrate and welcome differences. It is our intention to stimulate and encourage children’s curiosity about language by enabling them to use and apply their language skills in a variety of contexts. We aim to embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating and which will lay the foundations for future language learning.
