At Gunthorpe, children are encouraged to develop an awareness and knowledge of their local area, the wider world and their place in it. Children will develop their skills and understanding through key concepts. Throughout their geographical journey, the children will explore and apply the knowledge categories in each unit. We aim to inspire children with curiosity to discover the world and that they are accepting of all other cultures. We want to enable children to know about the location of the world’s continents, countries, cities, seas and oceans. Children will develop their skills by interpreting a range of sources and communicate their learning through a variety of methods. Children will understand how the human and physical features of a place shapes its location and how it can change over time. Furthermore, we want children to be inquisitive and develop a love for learning about the world around them.
